Galileo

Galileo is a new rock musical inspired by the life of astronomer Galileo Galilei.

The story follows Galileo as his observations of the heavens challenge accepted ideas about the universe, bringing him into conflict with the powerful Catholic Church. Alongside the clash between science and faith, the musical explores ambition, family, friendship and the personal cost of defending the truth.

The musical has a book by Danny Strong, with music and lyrics by Zoe Sarnak and Michael Weiner. Michael Mayer directs, with choreography by David Neumann. Brian Usifer provides the orchestrations and serves as musical supervisor, while Rachel Hauck designed the scenery and Susan Hilferty the costumes.

Galileo received its world premiere at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in 2024 after several years of development. Its Broadway production arrives at the Shubert Theatre in 2026, with previews beginning November 10 and an official opening on December 6.
