SIX: The Musical reimagines the six wives of Henry VIII as a modern pop group, with each queen taking the microphone to tell her side of history.

Rather than following a traditional plot, the show is staged as a concert competition in which Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard and Catherine Parr compete over who suffered most as Henry’s wife.

The musical was written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss while they were students at Cambridge University. It premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2017 before developing into a West End hit. Moss and Jamie Armitage direct the production, with choreography by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille and orchestrations by Tom Curran.

SIX opened on Broadway on October 3, 2021, after its original 2020 opening was delayed by the COVID-19 shutdown. The production received eight Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, and won two: Best Original Score for Marlow and Moss, and Best Costume Design for Gabriella Slade. Its blend of Tudor history and contemporary pop has since helped the musical develop a wide international following.
