Synopsis
It’s a festive story that combines the magic of Christmas with the importance of discovering one’s true identity and the value of family.
The musical follows the story of Buddy, a young orphan who accidentally crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole.
Unaware that he is actually a human, Buddy is raised among Santa’s elves, believing himself to be one of them despite his significantly larger size and lack of toy-making skills.
As Buddy grows up, his differences become more pronounced, and he eventually learns the truth about his origins.
Santa reveals that Buddy’s biological father, Walter Hobbs, is on the naughty list due to his selfish and cynical nature.
Walter lives in New York City and has no idea that Buddy exists.
Determined to find his father and establish a relationship with him, Buddy sets off for New York.
His childlike innocence and elfish demeanor clash comically with the cynicism of the big city.
He finds his father, who initially rejects him, not believing Buddy’s story.
Buddy also meets Jovie, a disillusioned store employee, and they develop a romantic relationship.
Through various adventures and misadventures, including a stint in a department store thinking he’s in the North Pole, Buddy brings his unique cheer to all those around him.
As Christmas approaches, Buddy’s unflagging spirit and unshakable belief in the magic of Christmas inspire those around him.
He helps his father rediscover the importance of family, love, and the holiday spirit.
The musical culminates with a crisis of belief in Santa Claus, threatening to ruin Christmas.
Buddy, with the help of his newfound family and friends, works to save Christmas, leading to a heartwarming conclusion where the true meaning of Christmas is celebrated.
