Synopsis
The story focuses on the relationship between Lee and her overbearing stage mother, Rose.
Set during the 1920s and 1930s, the musical follows the fading days of the vaudeville circuit, as Rose pushes her two daughters, June and Louise, into performing.
When June leaves the act to pursue marriage, Rose turns her attention to the less-talented Louise, who eventually becomes the famed burlesque performer, Gypsy Rose Lee.
The musical is famous for its rich character development and powerful songs, including Everything’s Coming Up Roses and Rose’s Turn.
