Synopsis
Nellie, a nurse from Arkansas, falls in love with a French plantation owner, Emile de Becque, but struggles with his multicultural background.
At the same time, Lieutenant Cable falls for a beautiful Tonkinese girl named Liat.
Themes of love, war, and racial prejudice are explored against the backdrop of the lush tropical setting and hauntingly beautiful music, including the classic songs Some Enchanted Evening and Bali Ha’i.
