Synopsis
The story follows the rivalry between two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds: the Jets (white Americans) and the Sharks (Puerto Rican immigrants).
Amidst this backdrop, a love story unfolds between Tony, a former member of the Jets, and Maria, the sister of Bernardo, the leader of the Sharks.
Their forbidden love story becomes intertwined with the gang rivalry, leading to tragedy and a plea for understanding and peace.
