Broadway’s Kit Kat Club has a new pair of stars lighting up the stage as Adam Lambert and Auli’i Cravalho step into the iconic roles of The Emcee and Sally Bowles.
Taking over from Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin, Adam and Auli’i made their debut on September 16, and we’ve got a first look at their captivating performances.
Joining them in this fresh take are Calvin Leon Smith as Clifford Bradshaw, replacing Ato Blankson-Wood, and Michelle Aravena, who steps into the shoes of Fraulein Kost and Fritzie, following Natascia Diaz.
The cast also features Broadway veteran Bebe Neuwirth as Fraulein Schneider, Steven Skybell as Herr Schultz, and Henry Gottfried as Ernst Ludwig.
The August Wilson Theatre has undergone a dramatic transformation, immersing audiences into the seedy, dazzling world of the Kit Kat Club with an in-the-round staging.
Based on Christopher Isherwood’s Goodbye to Berlin and John Van Druten’s play, Cabaret transports audiences to the tumultuous world of Weimar-era Berlin, where American writer Clifford Bradshaw arrives with dreams of writing his novel but gets swept up in the city’s decadent nightlife.
The production is directed by Rebecca Frecknall, set and costume design is by Tom Scutt with choreography by Julia Cheng. Musical supervision is by Jennifer Whyte and musical direction is by Ben Ferguson with lighting design by Isabella Byrd and sound design by Nick Lidster.
