A new musical tributing Chaka Khan’s life and legacy is hitting the stage with a major star in the lead.
From April 1-4, 2026, I’m Every Woman: The Chaka Khan Musical will play Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre, before heading to Congress Theatre, Eastbourne from April 7-11, following a limited run at London’s Peacock Theatre from March 5-28, with the official opening night set for March 11.
Multi-platinum artist and actress Alexandra Burke will step into Chaka’s shoes at all venues.
No stranger to the stage, Alexandra’s credits include headlining The Bodyguard and Sister Act in the West End, plus snagging TV fame on The X Factor and Curfew. She’s racked up over five million record sales in the UK, countless number one singles, and major acting nominations.
I’m Every Woman tells the powerful and personal story of Chaka Khan’s rise – not just as a chart-topping voice, but as an enduring icon who faced industry battles, family pressures, civil rights struggles, addiction and more, all while redefining soul, pop and funk for generations.
The show, created by producer Adrian Grant in association with Chaka herself, features a powerhouse creative team: Nia T. Hill pens the book, Racky Plews directs, with choreography by Ebony Clarke and musical supervision by Mark Crossland.
The musical will showcase Chaka’s hits from her solo career and her days leading Rufus. Expect classics like I Feel For You, Ain’t Nobody, Tell Me Something Good, Sweet Thing, Higher Love, and more – plus stories about her friendships with icons including Prince, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder and Steve Winwood.
