Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey are confirmed to lead a brand new revival of Sunday in the Park with George at London’s Barbican Centre, coming Summer 2027.
The news puts months of rumors to rest, following the buzz from the recent Wicked movie adaptations which also star the powerhouse pair.
The show will bring Marianne Elliott, Tony and Olivier award-winning director, back into the Sondheim spotlight after her acclaimed work on Company.
Tom Scutt, fresh off his Tony win, will design the world of Georges Seurat, further raising the bar for this much-awaited staging.
Jonathan’s previous collaboration with Marianne in Company earned him an Olivier Award.
For Ariana, this production marks her long-awaited return to musical theatre after her Broadway debut in 13 back in 2008.
Sunday in the Park with George tells the story of famous painter Georges Seurat, delving into how his obsessions shape the art – and the lives – around him.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine remains a favorite for its emotional depth, iconic score and timeless questions about art, love and legacy.
London last almost saw the musical in 2020, but those plans were halted by the pandemic.
Now, Empire Street Productions and the Barbican are giving audiences another shot at this classic.
Tickets for the hotly-anticipated run will be available starting May 2026, exclusively via the Barbican’s official website and box office.
