Cake: The Marie Antoinette Playlist has just dropped its complete album on all streaming platforms.

The new musical returns to the stage at London’s The Other Palace for a strictly limited season, beginning on 13 September 2024.

You can now stream the studio cast recording on Spotify and Apple Music/iTunes, so you can experience the pop-infused soundtrack before seeing it live.

The cast include Zizi Strallen, known for her iconic performances in Mary Poppins and Strictly Ballroom, as Marie Antoinette herself. Renée Lamb (Be More Chill, SIX) returns as Jeanne, alongside Travis Ross (Cabaret, 42 Balloons) reprising his role as the Cardinal. New to the cast is Millie O’Connell (SIX, The Cher Show) stepping in as Nicole.

Completing the royal court are Lila Eccles (Cinderella), Tarik Frimpong (The Drifters Girl), Sunny Lee (Hillsong Carols), Zara MacIntosh (& Juliet), Emma Robotham-Hunt (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), and Manu Sarswat making his London stage debut.

With a book by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm (Emilia) and Tasha Taylor-Johnson (The Cat In The Hat), music and lyrics by Jack McManus and Tasha Taylor-Johnson, and direction by Bronagh Lagan based on original staging by Olivier Award winner Drew McOnie, Cake promises to redefine what we expect from musical theatre.

The show features additional choreography by Christopher Tendai, set and costume design by Sami Fendall, lighting by Joshie Harriette, and casting by Will Burton.

Mixing a multi-genre pop score with the high-stakes drama of 18th-century France, Cake: The Marie Antoinette Playlist retells the infamous story of a monarch whose reign was marred by scandal.

But when Marie Antoinette gets embroiled in a scheme involving a diamond necklace and the crown jewellers, it’s not just her legacy at risk—it’s the future of the monarchy and France itself.
