Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 is based on a section of Tolstoy’s War and Peace. It takes audiences into the glittering, scandalous world of Moscow’s elite, as Natasha Rostova, awaiting her fiancé’s return, falls into a whirlwind romance with the dashing Anatole. It’s left to the unlikely hero Pierre to save her from a ruined reputation.
With a score blending pop, folk, classical, and electronic music, Dave Malloy’s work has been praised for its innovative storytelling and captivating energy.
Sheader’s directorial debut promises to be an immersive, grand experience, with choreography by Ellen Kane, musical direction by Nicholas Skilbeck, and design by Leslie Travers and Evie Gurney. The creative team is rounded out by lighting designer Howard Hudson and sound designers Nick Lidster and Gareth Tucker.
