Coyote Ugly is getting the stage treatment, with a brand-new musical heading to London’s West End in 2027.
Jamie Wilson Productions and Nederlander Studios are teaming up to adapt the cult-favorite movie and bring the energy of the original New York Coyote Ugly Saloon to life on stage.
The 2000 film was a box office sensation, raking in over $113 million and quickly earning its place as a pop culture standout.
It drew inspiration from Elizabeth Gilbert’s 1997 GQ article, The Muse of the Coyote Ugly Saloon, chronicling her real-life bartending experiences at the iconic bar.
Diane Warren, the multi award-winning songwriter behind the film’s key anthems, will contribute both familiar hits and brand-new songs for the musical.
Fans can expect to hear classics like Can’t Fight The Moonlight, Please Remember, The Right Kind of Wrong, and But I Do Love You, with fresh material to go along with the stage debut.
The original movie’s screenwriter, Gina Wendkos, returns for the musical’s book, co-writing alongside Olivier Award winner Vikki Stone.
Steering the show is three-time Tony winner Jerry Mitchell, whose directing and choreographing credentials include hits such as Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Kinky Boots, and most recently, The Devil Wears Prada in the West End.
Coyote Ugly will take the stage with special permission from Buena Vista Theatrical Group Ltd.
Dates and a theatre for the premiere run will be announced in due couse.
