The hit Off-Broadway musical adaptation of Dav Pilkey’s beloved book Dog Man series is finally coming to London.
Roast Productions has revealed that Dog Man: The Musical will make its European debut at the Southbank Centre from July 30 to August 16, 2026.
Based on the global bestselling series that’s captured the imaginations of kids everywhere, this family-friendly show is set to bring laughs, heart, and a dash of canine chaos to the stage.
Tickets will go on sale at 10am, Friday, December 5, 2025 at dogman.live.
Kevin Del Aguila, a two-time Emmy winner for Peg + Cat, wrote the book and lyrics. Brad Alexander, known for See Rock City & Other Destinations, composed the music. Jen Wineman directs and choreographs the show.
First hitting New York in 2019, Dog Man: The Musical extended its original Off-Broadway run due to popular demand before returning to the city in 2023.
It follows George and Harold, two best friends who decide to create a musical based on their homemade comic hero: Dog Man, who is part dog, part cop, and all heart.
Dog Man’s adventures onstage deliver a healthy dose of silliness and action, pitting our hero against villains like Flippy the cyborg fish and Petey the evil cat. Will good triumph over mischief before lunch? Audiences will find out in this lively production, originally produced by TheaterWorksUSA.
Since its launch in 2016, Pilkey’s Dog Man books have sold over 70 million copies and been translated into 48 languages. The momentum hasn’t slowed: five Dog Man titles currently rank in the Amazon UK top 50 and a DreamWorks animated film adaptation drew crowds and critical praise in 2025.
Dav Pilkey, who created Dog Man and Captain Underpants after coping with ADHD and dyslexia as a child, shared, “Dog Man: The Musical surpassed my highest expectations. The performances were beyond brilliant, capturing the heart of every single audience member and leaving everyone, especially me, in complete awe… I’m so thrilled to hear that the musical will be premiering in London next year. Kids and families are in for a treat!”
The show’s creative lineup features scenic design by Timothy R. Mackabee, costumes by Heidi Leigh Hanson, lighting by David Lander, sound design by Emma Wilk, and orchestrations by Lloyd Kikoler. For the London premiere, Paul Herbert joins as Musical Director.
