The beloved story of Freaky Friday is heading to the UK stage for the very first time, and it’s all happening at HOME Manchester.

This brand-new musical, based on Mary Rodgers’ classic 1972 novel and the iconic Disney films, will run from 27 November to 31 December 2025.

Presented by Paul Taylor-Mills, the producer behind hits like Heathers and The Lightning Thief, this strictly limited run promises to bring heart, humour, and a touch of magic to the holiday season.

Andy Fickman, who turned the cult-classic Heathers into a stage sensation, is taking the helm as director.

The book comes from Bridget Carpenter, best known for her work on Friday Night Lights and Parenthood, while the music and lyrics are by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, the Tony and Pulitzer-winning duo behind Next to Normal and If/Then.

Freaky Friday tells the story of Katherine, an overworked mother, and Ellie, her teenage daughter, who magically swap bodies for a single day.

Through their hilarious and heartfelt journey, the pair learns to see life from the other’s perspective. They discover the beauty of self-acceptance and the strength of their love and respect for one another.
