A first look performance from the pro-shot recording of the multi-award-winning musical Hadestown has been released.
Featuring stars of the original Broadway cast, Hadestown has been released in cinemas across North America today (24 July 2026). In the UK, the film will arrive in cinemas in October 2026. Further international release dates will follow.
André De Shields (Hermes), Eva Noblezada (Eurydice), Reeve Carney (Orpheus), Amber Gray (Persephone), and Patrick Page (Hades) – reunited in the West End production in 2025 to record the film.

The full cast for the capture will feature Bella Brown, Madeline Charlemagne and Allie Daniel as the Fates; Lauren Azania, Tiago Dhondt Bamberger, Waylon Jacobs and Christopher Short in the workers ensemble, and Lucinda Buckley, Francessca Daniella-Baker, Winny Herbert, Ryesha Higgs and Miriam Nyarko as swings.
With music, lyrics, and book by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and direction by Tony Award-winning Rachel Chavkin, Hadestown has captured hearts worldwide.
The genre-defying musical blends folk, jazz, and blues with Greek mythology to tell the mythic love stories of Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone. With its haunting melodies, soulful performances, and striking visuals, it’s no surprise that Hadestown has become one of the most celebrated musicals of our time.
The show first wowed UK audiences during its sold-out 2018 run at the National Theatre before transferring to Broadway in 2019, where it swept the awards season, earning eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, as well as a Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album.
