A huge Disney fan who grew up on the studio’s classic songs has now been given one of the company’s biggest honors, and the moment came with a musical twist.
We may not talk about Bruno, but we are talking about Lin-Manuel Miranda today.
Miranda has now been named a Disney Legend, and he marked the moment by singing his speech to the tune of “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid.
It fits, since he has often said Disney musicals helped lead him toward the work he does now.
The speech followed a mega mash up of Miranda’s hit songs performed by a super-star line up, including Auli’i Cravalho, Jordan Fisher and many more.

Before his Disney run took off, Miranda had already changed Broadway with In the Heights and Hamilton, with Hamilton later becoming a huge Disney+ release in 2020.
His Disney story grew in a big way with Moana, where he wrote songs including “How Far I’ll Go”, which earned him an Oscar nod and won a Grammy.
Lin-Manuel Miranda said: “I really related to Moana in a lot of ways.”
Then came Encanto, where his songs became a chart force, led by “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” spending five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
He also gave us “Surface Pressure” and “Dos Oruguitas”, with both helping make the Encanto soundtrack one of Disney’s biggest music wins in years.
His Disney work has kept going through The Little Mermaid and Mufasa: The Lion King.
He also plays Hermes in Disney+’s Percy Jackson & The Olympians and stepped into Mary Poppins Returns as Jack the Lamplighter.
