Classic BBC TV series Maid Marian and Her Merry Men is being turned into a stage musical.
Rufus Hound, Bronté Barbé and Natalie Casey are set to star in Maid Marian and Her Merry Men: A New Musical, a brand-new stage adaptation of Sir Tony Robinson’s beloved BBC series.
Written by Olivier Award winner Vikki Stone, with direction by Benji Sperring, the show gives a fresh twist to the Robin Hood legend – this time putting Maid Marian in charge as the true leader of Sherwood.
Packed with slapstick chaos, clever wit and big musical numbers, the story sees Marian run rings around King John, the Sheriff of Nottingham, and a whole forest of fools.
After two years of workshops and development, the musical is finally ready in its full two-act form, with Sir Tony Robinson himself joining the project as Executive Producer.
An industry presentation will take place on October 30, ahead of an expected UK premiere in early 2026.
The cast includes Bronté Barbé as Maid Marian, Rufus Hound as King John, and Natalie Casey as the Sheriff, alongside Mateo Oxley as Robin Hood, Ashley Samuels as Barrington, and Jennie Jacobs as Graham/Old Tony.
Producer Thomas Hopkins said: “I’m beyond excited to bring one of my all time favourite childhood TV shows to life as a brand new British family stage musical.
“Tony’s hit BBC TV show Maid Marian and Her Merry Men was a huge part of my growing up, and to reimagine it now for the stage, with such an exciting team of creatives and a dream cast is a real honour. I can’t wait for audiences to experience the magic and mayhem we’ve created together in this new musical.”
