Could Carly Rae Jepsen be making her Broadway debut? The Call Me Maybe singer is rumoured to be writing the score for a musical adaptation of 10 Things I Hate About You.

Details are scarce, but whispers suggest the project is in development for a Broadway run with Lena Dunham penning the book.

So far, there’s no word on casting or whether the storyline will stick closely to the much-loved 1999 film starring Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles.

For those who need a refresher, 10 Things I Hate About You is a modern-day take on Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew.

The original film follows high-schooler Cameron, who is desperate to date Bianca – except there’s one problem: Bianca’s strict father won’t let her date until her older sister, Kat, does.

Enter Patrick Verona, a rebellious bad boy who is roped into winning over Kat in a scheme that—predictably—doesn’t go to plan.

Dunham, known for creating Girls, has yet to confirm her involvement in the project. If the rumours are true, this will be her first foray into Broadway.

Meanwhile, Jepsen is no stranger to musical theatre – she played Cinderella on Broadway in 2014 and has a knack for crafting catchy, emotional pop anthems.
