Everyone’s favourite marmalade-loving bear is heading to the West End.
Sonia Friedman Productions, STUDIOCANAL, and Eliza Lumley Productions have officially announced that Paddington The Musical will make its world premiere at the Savoy Theatre this autumn. The show opens 1 November 2025.
Based on the classic books by Michael Bond and the hit films by STUDIOCANAL, the new musical will feature music and lyrics by Tom Fletcher, a book by Jessica Swale and direction by Luke Sheppard.
Priority booking opens on 13 May, with general public tickets available from 15 May.
Full casting and performance schedule will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Tom Fletcher, known for his work with McFly and as a children’s author, said it’s a dream to bring Paddington’s story to the stage.
Jessica Swale called the bear a symbol of kindness and hope, saying this was the perfect time to tell his story live.
Luke Sheppard, the director behind & Juliet and The Little Big Things, described the show as packing a heartfelt script and a new score into a “marmalade-filled suitcase.”
The musical promises a fresh take on Paddington’s adventures with the Brown family, while celebrating the warmth, humour and heart that made the bear a British icon.
The first Paddington book was published in 1958.
Since then, over 35 million books have been sold worldwide, and the character has starred in several TV adaptations and three hit films; the most recent being Paddington in Peru in 2024.
