West End’s Next To Normal Filmed for Future Release

2008 musical Next to Normal is being filmed for future release.

The current West End production will be recorded at Wyndham’s Theatre from 9 – 11 September.

This Tony Award-winning show, with music by Tom Kitt and book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey, tells the heart-wrenching story of a mother battling bipolar disorder.

The musical first graced Broadway in 2009, earning three Tony Awards and the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

After much anticipation, Next to Normal finally made its UK premiere last summer at the Donmar Warehouse under the direction of Michael Longhurst.

The show transferred to the West End earlier in 2024 with a stellar cast, including Caissie Levy, Jamie Parker, Eleanor Worthington Cox, Jack Wolfe, Trevor Dion Nicholas and Jack Ofrecio.

The current London cast also includes standbys Carolyn Maitland, Ben Heathcote, Lizzy Parker and Jake Reynolds.

Details about the film’s future release are still under wraps, with a message from the show’s official social media reading: “🎥 Further details to be announced. 🏡❤️‍🩹”.
