Operation Mincemeat, the award-winning British musical sensation, is heading to Broadway next spring, bringing its original cast to the stage at the Golden Theatre.
This critically acclaimed show will officially open on 20 March 2025, following previews that begin on 15 February.
The original West End cast—David Cumming, Claire-Marie Hall, Natasha Hodgson, Jak Malone, and Zoë Roberts—will reprise their roles.
The transfer to Broadway marks a huge milestone for the musical, which originated as a humble, low-budget production in 2019 at London’s New Diorama Theatre.
Written by the comedy troupe SpitLip (David Cumming, Felix Hagan, Natasha Hodgson, and Zoë Roberts), Operation Mincemeat quickly grew from Fringe phenomenon to West End sensation.
In May 2023, Operation Mincemeat premiered in the West End, taking the stage at the Fortune Theatre and wining the Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
Inspired by the true events of a top-secret British deception during WWII, the story is set in 1943 and follows an outrageous plan to outwit Hitler using the body of a dead man as a decoy.
Described as Singin’ in the Rain meets Strangers on a Train, the production is a blend of British wit and suspense that’s equal parts hilarious and surprisingly poignant.
Directed by Olivier nominee Robert Hastie and choreographed by Jenny Arnold, the Broadway production brings together a top creative team, including set and costume designer Ben Stones and lighting designer Mark Henderson.
Londoners can still enjoy Operation Mincemeat at the Fortune Theatre where it is currently booking until April 2025.
