Center Stage Records has officially launched the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Pirates! The Penzance Musical to download and stream.

The jazz-infused revival of the Gilbert & Sullivan classic brings a bold New Orleans twist to Broadway’s beloved buccaneers.

You can stream the album now via orcd.co/pirates, while the CD version is up for pre-order and will hit shelves on Friday, 14 November.

This reimagined take premiered earlier this year at Roundabout Theatre Company’s Todd Haimes Theatre, directed by Scott Ellis with a vibrant adaptation by Rupert Holmes.

The cast includes Ramin Karimloo as the Pirate King, drag icon Jinkx Monsoon as Ruth, and David Hyde Pierce taking on the dual role of Gilbert and Major General Stanley.

Rounding out the principal lineup are Nicholas Barasch, Samantha Williams and Preston Truman Boyd, with a large ensemble packed with Broadway talent.

Behind the scenes, the production brings together an award-winning creative team: choreography by Warren Carlyle, orchestrations from Joseph Joubert and Daryl Waters, set design by David Rockwell and lighting from Donald Holder.

Michael Croiter, a twelve-time Emmy winner, produced the cast album, with musical direction by Joubert and arrangements by Holmes and Joubert.

Blending Caribbean rhythms with bluesy brass, the new version of The Pirates of Penzance has been described as “an outrageously clever romp” that still delivers the classic operetta’s comic charm.
