Sabrina Carpenter is diving headfirst into Wonderland.
The singer and actress is set to star in and produce a brand new movie musical inspired by Alice in Wonderland for Universal Pictures.
The movie will be written and directed by Lorene Scafaria, best known for the hit film Hustlers, and produced by Marc Platt, whose credits include Wicked, La La Land and Legally Blonde.
Insiders say the project began as a passion idea from Carpenter herself, who first approached Universal with a detailed concept and lookbook more than a year ago.
The studio quickly saw potential in her vision, and Scafaria joined later to shape the story into a full musical feature.
The film will offer a fresh spin on Lewis Carroll’s classic story about a young girl who tumbles into a strange world filled with curious creatures and wild adventures.
It is not yet known how closely this version will follow the original tale, nor what role Carpenter will play in it all.
