Sam Ryder to Star in Jesus Christ Superstar at the London Palladium

The legendary rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar is returning to London for a strictly limited run at The London Palladium.

The hit musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, famous for timeless songs like “Gethsemane,” “Heaven on Their Minds” and “I Don’t Know How To Love Him,” will once again bring its electrifying story to the West End stage.

The new production will run from June 20 to September 5, 2026. Tickets go on presale November 25, 2025, at 10am, with general sale opening the following day.

Making his highly anticipated West End debut, singer-songwriter Sam Ryder will take on the role of Jesus.

Known for his powerful vocals and breakout success on the Eurovision stage, Sam said he’s “honoured to follow in the footsteps of rock vocal titans like Ian Gillan and John Farnham” and “can’t wait to immerse himself in the world of Jesus Christ Superstar.”

The revival is directed by Tim Sheader, who previously staged the award-winning Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production in 2016 and 2017. He reunites with designer Tom Scutt and choreographer Drew McOnie, alongside an creative team including musical supervisor Tom Deering, lighting designer Lee Curran, sound designer Adam Fisher, fight director Kate Waters and BAFTA Award-winning casting director David Grindrod.

Originally debuting on Broadway in 1971 and opening in the West End a year later, Jesus Christ Superstar remains one of the most influential musicals ever written.

Now, more than five decades later, it’s set to rock The Palladium in spectacular fashion.
