Get ready for a Renaissance with a twist as Something Rotten! is finally making its fully staged UK premiere.
After a sold-out concert run at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, the hit Broadway musical is coming to Manchester’s Opera House from 16 June to 19 July 2026, ahead of a planned West End run. Tickets are on sale now here.
Set in 1595, the show follows the Bottom brothers, Nick and Nigel, two struggling playwrights living in the shadow of one William Shakespeare.
Desperate to make their mark, they set out to write the world’s first-ever musical – and chaos, comedy and catchy songs follow.
Jason Manford is returning to lead the UK production as Nick Bottom after starring in the show’s concert staging. Additional casting will be announced soon.
The musical features a book by John O’Farrell and Karey Kirkpatrick, with music and lyrics by Karey and Wayne Kirkpatrick, and direction by Tim Jackson.
The show was a massive success on Broadway, running for more than 700 performances and earning ten Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical.
Since then, it’s entertained audiences across the US and around the world.
