Andrew Lloyd Webber’s high-octane stage hit Starlight Express is headed for the screen.
Performances of the current London revival are set to be filmed this January. A release date for the proshot is to be announced.
The London production at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre is showing no signs of slowing down.
The award-winning production just extended its run one last time, now set to continue through Sunday, May 3, 2026 before heading out on an international tour.
Making headlines since its celebrated 2024 return, Starlight Express has racked up critical acclaim and several major honors, including an Olivier Award.
This latest incarnation marks the longest-running revival of a Lloyd Webber musical in London in two decades.
Since its debut, more than 30 million people across the planet have witnessed Starlight Express’s immersive spectacle.
With a cast of forty skating around and above the audience, the show serves up classics like AC/DC, Make Up My Heart, Light at the End of the Tunnel and its title number.
The iconic show tells the story of a child’s train set that comes to life and Rusty, a modest steam engine, who finds hope, courage and maybe even victory in a turbo-charged race to be the fastest train, all inspired by the legend of the Starlight Express.
Alongside the upcoming filmed performance, a cast recording of the new production dropped in November 2024 which has had over 17 million streams to date.
