A Tangled stage adaptation has taken a big step closer to reality, and we know a lot of fans have been waiting for this one.
Disney Theatrical Group recently published an audition posting for an early development version of the hit film.
The group is casting the main roles of Rapunzel, Mother Gothel and Flynn Rider, which is a clear sign that work on the show is moving forward.
Those on the early creative team include Julia Mattison on the book, Ashley Rodbro as director, Katie Spelman as choreographer and Madeline Benson as musical supervisor.
The show will use the film score by Alan Menken and lyrics by Glenn Slater, with songs like “I See the Light” and “When Will My Life Begin?”.
Us Tangled fans know the story well, with Rapunzel stuck in her tower before she takes a chance on the wider world.
Flynn Rider joins her on that trip, and the film has stayed a firm fan fave since its Disney debut.
Talk of a Tangled stage show has been around for years and Disney has previously launched a one-hour-long production of Tangled: The Musical on the Disney Magic cruise ship in 2015.
We have also seen the story grow through Tangled Ever After and Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure, so Disney clearly knows there is still love for this world.
There is no opening date or city yet, so we are still in wait and see mode.
Alongside the stage adaptation, a live action Tangled is also in the works.
Kathryn Hahn is set as Mother Gothel, with Teagan Croft as Rapunzel and Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider.
The film is set for release on March 31, 2028.
