The 80s cult classic The Lost Boys will be sinking its teeth into Broadway next year.

Joel Schumacher’s iconic 1987 vampire flick is being transformed into a stage musical, with plans to debut at the Palace Theatre in spring 2026.

The musical, featuring a book by David Hornsby and Chris Hoch and music by indie band The Rescues, uses the tale of teenage vampires and hunters in Santa Carla, California, as a metaphor for identity, transformation and growing up.

It follows Michael and Sam Emerson, two brothers who move to a new town with their single mum, only to stumble into a dark and thrilling world filled with rebel vampires and quirky hunters.

Tony-winning director Michael Arden helms the production, fresh off his success with Parade.

The creative team includes Tony-nominated music supervisor Ethan Popp (Tina: The Tina Turner Musical), choreographers Lauren Yalango-Grant and Christopher Cree Grant (Parade), scenic designer Dane Laffrey (Maybe Happy Ending), and costume designer Susan Hilferty (Wicked). Casting will be by The Telsey Office’s Craig Burns and Kristian Charbonier, with general management by Bespoke Theatricals.

The original Lost Boys film, starring Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Patric, Corey Feldman and Corey Haim, has grown into a pop culture phenomenon since its 1987 release, spawning two sequels and two comic book series.
