One of Broadway’s newest original musicals has set a date for its final bow in New York.

Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) will play its final Broadway performance at the Longacre Theatre on Sunday 29 November 2026.

By closing night, the production will have played 21 previews and 428 regular performances.

Sam Tutty stars as Dougal, marking the Olivier Award winner’s Broadway debut, with Christiani Pitts playing Robin. Both received Tony Award nominations for their performances, while the musical picked up eight nominations at the 2026 Tony Awards.

Written and composed by Jim Barne and Kit Buchan, the musical follows an optimistic Brit who arrives in New York for his father’s wedding.

There’s one rather big complication: Dougal has never met his dad. He soon meets Robin, the bride’s sister, and the pair find themselves crossing New York together.

Producers have called the musical a “love letter to New York City” and described taking it to Broadway as a “leap of faith.” They also thanked audiences for embracing the production during its run.

There is good news for those of us who won’t make it to the Longacre before November.

Two Strangers will launch its first national tour next year, beginning in Providence, with more details expected in the future.
