One of Broadway’s most famous musicals is heading back to the West End.
We now know the full company who’ll be bringing Jonathan Larson’s much-loved RENT to London for its 30th anniversary.
The new production begins performances at the Tom Stoppard Theatre, currently the Duke of York’s Theatre, on 26 September, with Gaten Matarazzo starring as Mark alongside Travis Ross as Roger, Billy Nevers as Collins and Jeevan Braich as Angel.
Joining them are Lazy Violet as Maureen, Olivier Award nominee Danielle Fiamanya as Joanne and Joaquin Pedro Valdes as Benny, while Alexa Lopez will make her West End debut as Mimi after previously appearing in Masquerade off-Broadway and Sondheim’s Old Friends on Broadway.
The company is completed by Baylie Carson, Laura Delany, Ryesha Higgs, Montoya Holloway-Johnson, Rhys Hopkins, Shem Omari James, Hannah Macpherson, TJ Matara-Holloway, Ryan Nixon, Leah Vassell, James Wilkinson-Jones and Kevin Yates, while Bella Brown has withdrawn from the production after sustaining an injury before rehearsals.
Luke Sheppard directs the new staging, with choreography by Tom Jackson Greaves, as RENT once again follows a group of friends and artists trying to find their way through life in New York’s East Village.
The production officially opens on 8 October and is currently booking until 27 March 2027.
