Watch Every Wicked Movie Trailer Released So Far
It’s finally happening—Wicked is flying off the stage and onto the big screen, and we’ve got the trailers to prove it.
After what feels like a lifetime of waiting, the film adaptation of the hit musical is on the way, and it’s already looking wickedly good.
Starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, the movie will bring Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman’s beloved stage musical to life, directed by Jon M. Chu.
Chu, known for his vibrant work on In The Heights, is splitting the film into two parts to do justice to the sprawling story. Part One hits cinemas on 22 November 2024, with Part Two following on 26 November 2025.
Director Jon M. Chu explained the decision in a heartfelt message to fans: “As we prepared this production, it became increasingly clear that it would be impossible to wrestle the story of Wicked into a single film without doing some real damage to it.”
Chu added, “We decided to give ourselves a bigger canvas and make not just one Wicked movie but TWO! With more space, we can tell the story of Wicked as it was meant to be told while bringing even more depth and surprise to the journeys of these beloved characters.”
The cast is packed with talent alongside Cynthia and Ariana. Jeff Goldblum will take on the role of the Wizard of Oz, with Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Ethan Slater as Boq, and Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible.
Additional cast members include Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, Keala Settle, Aaron Teoh as Avaric, and Colin Michael Carmichael.
Based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, Wicked offers a fresh take on the Land of Oz, revealing the untold story of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good before Dorothy ever set foot in Oz.
Since its Broadway debut in 2003 and subsequent West End launch in 2006, Wicked has been enchanting audiences worldwide with its story of friendship, power, and the grey areas of good and evil.
