Titaníque, the Céline Dion jukebox musical send-up of Titanic, cruises into this award season with four Tony nominations, including the coveted Best Musical nod.
A new video features Layton Williams, Olivier Award-winner and now a Tony nominee, in a show-stopping performance as Tina Turner – the Iceberg Bitch herself – belting out River Deep, Mountain High, a staple from both Dion and Turner’s catalogs.
Williams, who dazzled London audiences before crossing the Atlantic, joins the Broadway company alongside Marla Mindelle as Céline Dion, Frankie Grande as Victor Garber, Constantine Rousouli as Jack Dawson, John Riddle as Cal Hockley, Jim Parsons as Ruth Dewitt Bukater, Deborah Cox as Unsinkable Molly Brown and Melissa Barrera as Rose Dewitt Bukater.
The creative team behind Titaníque includes Mindelle, Rousouli and Tye Blue, who wrote the book, with Nicholas James Connell handling music arrangements. Blue is at the helm as director.
Originally a one-night concert in Los Angeles in 2017, Titaníque became an unexpected Off-Broadway hit and ran for three years at the Daryl Roth Theatre.
Its success has sparked productions in Chicago, Australia, the West End, Paris and beyond.
