What a way to say goodbye after seven years on Broadway.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical took its final bow on August 30 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, ending a run that first began back in 2019.
To mark the moment, past Christians and Satines came together to sing “Come What May”, giving us a full circle send-off for one of Broadway’s biggest recent hits.
By closing night, Moulin Rouge! The Musical had played more than 2,000 shows.
The stage version, based on the 2001 film, opened on Broadway on July 25, 2019 and went on to win 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
It was also the highest-earning show in the 100-year history of the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
The final company was led by Christian Douglas as Christian and Kelsie Watts as Satine.
The cast also included AK Naderer as Nini, Eric Anderson as Harold Zidler, Andre Ward as Toulouse-Lautrec, David Harris as The Duke of Monroth, original cast member Ricky Rojas as Santiago and Arianna Rosario as the Satine Alternate.
Aaron Tveit, who won the 2021 Tony Award for creating the role of Christian, returned for a short run from August 18 to August 29.
Douglas then came back for the final show, closing the chapter with the company that carried it to the end.
