Rachel Zegler delivered a standout moment on British TV with a powerful performance of Don’t Cry For Me Argentina from Evita.
The West End and Hollywood star took centre stage during Strictly Come Dancing to sing, while dancers Nikita Kuzmin and Luba Mushtuk performed a dramatic routine alongside her.
The song, made famous by the original stage production and later the 1996 film, comes from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s classic musical Evita, which follows the life of Argentine political figure Eva Perón.
The performance comes as Evita finds itself back in the spotlight following a successful London revival in the West End starring Zegler in the lead role.
Directed by Jamie Lloyd, the bold reimagining earned critical acclaim and sold-out runs, with rumors now swirling about a possible Broadway transfer.
